Welcome to Puppy And Dog School (P.A.D.S)

We run our dog school in Worcester for the benefit of the dogs and handlers, you can start our classes at anytime, we don‘t run courses, it’s important to us that the puppy or dog can start immediately, so there is no “waiting for courses” to start.

Puppies and dogs all work and learn at their own pace, as do the handlers! However, we have other classes that we can move you and your dog up to, when you and your dog are ready.

We are more than happy for you to come along (without your dog) and see what our classes entail before you come and join us. You can see the class content, watch how we teach the class and talk to Annette and Sue our trainers before you make your decision to join our school.

Our Classes:

Puppy Class: Saturday morning: Puppies from completion of vaccinations to 6 months:  Our puppy class is ideal for puppies to learn to socialise with other puppies of all breeds and sizes, other people and children. We teach them to learn good manners, to sit, go down, stay, walk on the lead and recall (come back to you), playing with toys (sometimes bring them back to you!), but we emphasise that the handler and the puppy enjoy themselves as it makes learning easier and more fun. This class also teaches the handlers and family the basics too!

New from 25.2.12 Adolescent Class: also on a Saturday morning: For puppies over 6 months and other dogs that are in need of basic training. We again teach the sit, down, stay, recall, socialization with other dogs, walk to heel, basic retrieve etc. However, we also introduce some more advanced skills at this stage to keep the handler and the dog interested and eager to learn.

Getting Started/Adolescent Class: Friday night: For puppies over 6 months and other dogs that are in need of basic training. We again teach the sit, down, stay, recall, socialization with other dogs, walk to heel, basic retrieve etc. However, we also introduce some more advanced skills at this stage to keep the handler and the dog interested and eager to learn.

Assessment Class: Friday night: In this class we bring dogs and owners in for an assessment to see if our class can benefit your dog and you. We will admit that our classes are not suitable for all dogs and we will discuss and use this time to see if we can help and if it’s what you are looking for? On some occasions we will arrange to meet you at a different location to see if we can help.

Moving On: Friday night: This is for all dogs that can stay and are looking for more advanced training. Usually dogs over 1 year of age (but not always!) and we have dogs that are 12 years old still coming to class!  All dogs in this class should know the basic skills taught in classes “Puppy” and “Getting Started”. We then teach distance control, interrupted recalls, off lead work, send-a -ways, retrieve, out of sight stays etc.

Over and above this we also regularly take our classes to the Worcester Countryside Centre and have dog walks, to further educate the dogs in being with, and playing with, other dogs and meeting and dealing with new situations.

We rarely close down; normally this is only because we cannot have the hall, i.e.: Church business. When this does happen we usually change venue and go for a dog walk, to keep up the momentum!

We do not like our classes to get too big, it’s not fair on you, your dog or us. We are very fortunate to be flexible in the time we can have the hall and we will on occasion have a reshuffle and open up another class to incorporate everyone and their requirements.

Our Mission..... to train our handlers to have obedient happy dogs and puppies which are an asset to their families!
